Amy Schumer Says She Is ‘Empowered’ While Working On New Projects Five Months After Giving Birth

Amy Schumer is still going strong while back to work five months after giving birth to son Gene and is feeling better than ever. Speaking to PEOPLE, the comedian and actress said, “It’s empowering. It’s like you get a piece of yourself back, but it is hard. I’m just so fortunate, you know? ‘Cause a lot of people have it a lot harder.”

In addition to motherhood, Amy is juggling quite a lot of projects. Her podcast Amy Schumer Presents: 3 Girls, 1 Keith, is rolling out its fourth season, and she also recently began filming an unnamed project.

Becoming a parent has been quite the journey for Amy. She noted, “It’s all terrifying. Giving birth is the most terrifying thing you’ll ever do that’s completely worth it. Having a c-section was … my pregnancy was so hard, I was just very ready to meet my son.” Parenthood has also inspired Amy to focus on maternity-related issues, such as adequate maternity care for women and helping new parents get paid time off work.
