“They started dating when they were 18 or 19, dated for a few years, and then society said, ‘You’ve been dating for two or three years, time to get married!’ and they do. Meanwhile, they haven’t had any real discussions about money, future, goals, kids, or any of those other challenging things that happen in relationships. These discussions either don’t happen at all, or they do happen, but because of the age and the uncertainty that goes with being 22 or 24, the answers to these questions change. They get married because they are in love and believe that those feelings alone will get them through it. You can love someone a whole lot, but if you don’t want the same things, you’ll end up breaking your own heart by compromising.“
