When Sultan Ghiyath al-Din Mesud realized his mistake, he helped Turk Muslims and Osman Ghazi a lot, which caused his own family to turn against him, and the Mongol Ilkhanate deposed him and imprisoned him.
When Sultan Mesud became the Seljuk Sultan of Rum, he was a vassal of the Mongols under Mahmud Ghazan and exercised no real authority. He served Mongols and led several campaigns against the emerging Turkmen Beyliks.
However, in 1297 he revolted against the Mongol Ilkhanate and start helping the Turks in their war against the Mongols.
Sultan Mesud also helped Osman Ghazi in his conquest of the Karacahisar castle. He also gave him the weapons and soldiers.
