The top googled game (or game series) in each European country, month by month from 2004 to December 2022.
Data was taken from Google Trends (trends.google.com). I have done my best to check it, but the API can be a bit unreliable, so take it with a grain of salt.
I used “Search topics”, which are bundles of relevant searches from all languages. I generally used the name of the series, that is, “Grand Theft Auto – Video Game Series” rather than the individual games. In the video I however show relevant releases to help understand the patterns.
I chose games that appeared on best seller lists, and asked the community to help out with more tips, resulting in a list of over 100 games. Go to the community tab to see the list and discussion! And drop a comment on the video letting me know what you think, and if you’d like to see the same for other regions.
The top 5 games that appear the most in the video are:
