“When we would see each other offstage, we would cuss each other out.”
“It’s crazy because the dude that you see on TV, that’s not who that was,” Steve said, adding that both he and Bob got their start working on shows and did press junkets together.
“The father on Full House, now this is a different dude offstage,” he continued. “We both were. When we would see each other offstage, we would cuss each other out. You know, he was an interesting guy.”
Steve added, “My staff just told me today, he just emailed me two days ago, and they read the email to me this morning, and he wanted me to come do this new podcast he had, man. He really respected the moral stances that I take.”
“He was just talking about all the good times we had, and they read the email to me,” he concluded. “It was a little hard. He was a great dude. Great dude.”
In response, Jimmy added that the actor-comedian’s death was “hard” for him too because he realized he was not asked to be on the podcast. “He only respected your moral stance,” the late-night host said.
Jimmy added, “Bob had the darkest sense of humor of any nice person I ever met. … Shocking dark, and not just profane, but also twisted and very fun to experience.”
In a pre-taped monologue segment, which aired that evening, Jimmy paid a tearful tribute to Saget. “If you’ve read anything about Bob online last night, if you saw any of the many thoughts from people who knew him personally, a word that came up a lot was ‘the sweetest,'” he said.
Saget died suddenly in Jacksonville, Florida, after one of the first performances in his stand-up comedy tour. Authorities revealed that they found “no signs of foul play or drug use.”
