Seljuk Bey was the son of Duqaq known as Temür Yalığ (meaning “iron bow”) because of his skills in his works. Seljuk Bey was the Chief of the Oghuz Kinik tribe. He gave his name to both the Seljuk Empire and the Seljuk Dynasty of Oghuz. He had five sons: Israel Arslan, Mikail, Musa Yabgu, Yusuf, and Yunus. Under Mikail’s sons; Tugrul Bey and Cagri Bey, the Seljuks migrated into Khurasan. Ghaznavid attempted to stop Seljuk’s numerical rise which led to the Battle of Dandanaqan. Victorious Seljuks then became masters of Khurasan, expanding their power into Transoxiana and across Iran. More and more Oghuz joined their leadership and pledged allegiance.
