In 2006, they built and wore their first moving tail prototype. Six years later, they launched their first Kickstarter and made one hundred tails. Today, their online store offers more than 36 tail products and accessories with price points ranging from $5 to $200. Originally made for Cosplay, anyone can own these animatronic limbs, which are made with faux fur and have different digital systems that allow for movement.
So why would humans want tails? As The Tail Company’s website says, “because evolution was unkind to us.” And they’re not waiting on Mother Nature for anything, with plans to manufacture wearable tentacles, wings, and even horns. In fact, Eargear is launching any minute!
