“The element of being away from your child is very different from when you’re with your child.”
You know Leighton Meester and Adam Brody have been married for a minute now — and you probably know they have two kids together, too.
But you probably don’t know more than that, because both of them are pretty reticent when it comes to their family and personal lives.
But Leighton recently opened up about her family life in an interview with Cosmopolitan while talking about her new movie The Weekend Away — which is about a new mom taking her first trip after having a baby.
“I felt like that was the kind of character that I could very easily relate to, slip into, and have compassion for,” she said.
“When I got the script breakdown it was like a 35-year-old with a 10-month-old, and I was like, ‘That is exactly me.'”
“The element of being away from your child is very different from when you’re with your child. At least for me.”
“When anything happens, if your kid gets hurt or something happens, that’s your number-one concern.”
Leighton said that her experience as a mother made her relate to her character’s plight of being far away from their child, even if just for a little bit.
“I would be devastated to be in a situation like that and be thousands of miles away from my kid.”
