If you’re in the business of Shiny hunting in Pokémon GO, then you might want to be on the lookout for Spotlight Hours. These weekly mini-events have certain Pokémon appear on your map at a higher rate than normal, allowing you to work the 1 in 500 odds of a Shiny encounter in your favor. On Jan. 17 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time, you’ll be able to catch Seedot during the Spotlight Hour.

However, it should be noted that not every Pokémon in the game has its Shiny version available in it right away. Worst case scenario, they get patched in during a later version of the game, but it isn’t inconceivable for a Shiny version of a Pokémon to not be in the game to start.

Can Seedot be Shiny in ‘Pokémon GO’?

Seedot was first introduced to the world of Pokémon in Gen. III with Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and subsequently Emerald. It has the appearance of a beige-colored acorn, complete with a grey stemmed top and stubby legs.

A Shiny Seedot is considerably different from a regular one, trading in its beige body for a more striking orange-red color.

During today’s Spotlight Hour, the Seedot will spawn more frequently than normal, giving players an increased opportunity to catch their own.

For completionists out there, you’ll also be able to get a Shiny Seedot during today’s Spotlight Hour. If you’re looking to catch a Shiny Seedot, this mini-event will be your best chance.

If you do manage to catch a Shiny Seedot during the event, you can evolve it into a Nuzleaf with 25 candies. You can subsequently evolve it into a Shiftry using 100 candies. If you have a Shiny Seedot on you, then the following evolutions will also be Shiny.

During the January Spotlight Hour, players will also earn double the Catch XP. You can even further increase your gains with a Lucky Egg for quadruple the Catch XP.

Seedot’s Spotlight Hour in Pokémon GO will begin at 6 p.m. local time and end at 7 p.m. on Jan. 17.
