Here’s What $1 Million Houses Look Like In Australia

Two whole houses on the beach in Broome for the price of an apartment in Sydney? I’m intrigued.

1.

Melbourne, VIC

Vision Real Estate / Via realestate.com.au

Size: A ground-floor office/shopfront with a four-bedroom apartment upstairs, 206 square metres.

Location: Clifton Hill, 4km from Melbourne CBD.

Vision / Via realestate.com.au

It’s definitely a fixer-upper and it seems like they’re trying to sell it to be demolished and replaced with townhouses.

2.

Mossman Gorge, QLD

Ray White / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Four-bedroom house set on over one hectare of land.

Location: In the rainforest, about a twenty-minute drive from Port Douglas.

Ray White

If you want peace and tranquility, this is the house for you. It’s still close enough to town, but far enough away that you’re truly living right in nature.

3.

Broome, WA

Ray White / Via realestate.com.au

Size: TWO three-bedroom houses next to eachother, total 1149 metres squared.

Location: Cable Beach, right in town and near THE iconic camel beach.

Ray White / Via realestate.com.au

Sure, this mighn’t be the most ~modern~ or aesthetic interior design you’ve ever seen…but TWO whole houses right near the beach?? It’s a yes from me.

4.

Sydney, NSW

Adrian William / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Two-bedroom apartment, 84 square metres.

Location: Erskineville, a 15 minute train ride to Sydney city.

Adrian William / Via realestate.com.au

I’m impressed with the kitchen and the location is mint…but that’s a very small amount of space for a cool milli. Though the fact that it has a car spot is a major plus.

5.

Launceston, TAS

Harrison / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Four-bedroom house, 778 metres squared.

Location: South Launceston, less than ten minutes from the city centre.

Harrison / Via realestate.com.au

This looks like one of those places that influencers visit for the weekend, but it could be your actual house. Plus it’s a brand-new build, so you can be sure there are no ghosts or evil spirits.

6.

Darwin, NT

Acquire NT / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Five bedroom house, 762 square metres.

Location: Farrar, a 20 minute drive from Darwin’s CBD.

Acquire NT / Via realestate.com.au

This is very much a family home, with five bedrooms and a giant pool and a garage and a shed — basically everything you can’t get for $1 million in Sydney and Melbourne.

7.

Perth, WA

Dempsey / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Two-bedroom apartment, 127 square metres.

Location: South Perth, just across the water from the city, which is accessible by ferry.

Dempsey / Via realestate.com.au

Right on the South Perth foreshore, the real selling point of this place is that view! Wowza.

8.

Brisbane, QLD

Atlas / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Three bedroom house, 405 square metres.

Location: Annerley, about six kilometres from the city.

Atlas / Via realestate.com.au

A whole house! In the inner city! With a backyard! You could totally have chickens and a veggie patch here…one can dream.

9.

Adelaide, SA

Boffo Real Estate / Via boffo.com.au

Size: Four-bedroom house, 488 square metres.

Location: Prospect, a 15-minute drive from Adelaide CBD.

Boffo / Via boffo.com.au

Maybe it’s the Sydneysider in me talking, but I’m obsessed with the fact you can buy a four-bedroom house on a residential street that’s still kinda walking distance from the city.

10.

Canberra, ACT

Home by Holly / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Four bedrooms, 154 square metres.

Location: Mawson, at the base of Mount Taylor, a 15 minute drive from the CBD.

Home by Holly / Via realestate.com.au

The house looks dated, but it’s actually pretty special — it’s designed to be solar passive. It collects heat as the sun shines through south-facing windows and then retains.

11.

Hobart, TAS

Lennard McLure / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Five-bedroom house, 690 square metres.

Location: Rosny, right on the Derwent River and a 10-minute drive from the CBD.

Lennard McLure / Via realestate.com.au

Imagine having your morning coffee on that back deck??? BRB, moving to Tassie right now.

12.

Geelong, VIC

McGrath / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Three-bedroom apartment, 153 square metres.

Location: Right in the Geelong CBD, walking distance from the waterfront.

McGrath / Via realestate.com.au

The decor in this house screams monochromatic trends of the ’00s, but for an inner-city apartment, it’s certainly spacious as hell.

13.

Tamworth, NSW

Ben Green / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Four bedroom house with a detached guest suite, 847 square metres.

Location: A few blocks from Tamworth main street and train station.

Ben Green / Via realestate.com.au

This is a full-on Tuscan villa slash mansion, but the real drawcard has gotta be that kitchen. LOOK at all that space and storage!

14.

Gold Coast, QLD

Kath Freeman / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Two-bedroom unit, 105 square metres.

Location: Palm Beach, about halfway between Surfer’s Paradise and the airport.

That lounge room just screams Gold Coast, but the view is really unbeatable.

15.

And finally, Adelaide Hills, SA

Harris / Via realestate.com.au

Size: Three-bedroom house, 1348 square metres.

Location: Stirling, a 20-minute drive to the city.

Harris / Via realestate.com.au

This is the place to live out your dreams of living in a cottage. It’s right in the heart of the Adelaide Hills — yep, near all the wineries — but still close enough to the city.
