Emma D’Arcy Olivia Cooke Comment On Negroni Sbagliato Meme

Emma and Olivia, who star as the adult versions of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, are absolutely phenomenal in the series — like, we should start the 2023 Emmys campaign for them now. However, after an interview clip of the duo went viral on TikTok and everywhere else, they’re now best known for explaining their drinks of choice.

Honestly, this sound bite of Emma saying this phrase has been stuck in my head for a week now, and I’m not even sorry. It also single-handedly got me to catch up on House of the Dragon.

And I keep working “Oh, stunning” into every conversation in what I can only describe as a really bad imitation of Olivia Cooke’s amazing accent.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, they were asked about the now famous “a negroni. Sbagliato…with prosecco in it” moment, and Emma revealed that they even thought it would be “quite funny to be drinking one right now” during the interview.

“I keep thinking I should tell my mum that I’ve become a meme in the hope that she’ll be happy for me,” Emma said. “But I’d have to explain what a meme is, and I’ve decided it’s too much effort.”

Speaking about if they ever could’ve imagined that small sound bite taking off the way it did, Emma explained that after doing interviews for hours, all they were trying to do was have some fun alongside Olivia.

“I feel so embarrassed. Because in those interviews, when we’ve been at it for six hours, I’m honestly only trying to make Olivia laugh,” Emma said.
