On Sunday, Brendan Fraser attended the 79th Venice International Film Festival for the premiere of his new film The Whale.
According to Variety’s co–editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, Brendan and the film received a standing ovation, which ultimately brought the actor to tears.
After taking a step back from the public eye for years, Brendan is ready to make his much-awaited return, and fans are welcoming him back with open arms — including his former costar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Dwayne, who starred alongside Brendan in 2001’s The Mummy Returns, shared an appreciation tweet for him after hearing about how The Whale was received at the festival.
“Man this makes me so happy to see this beautiful ovation for Brendan,” Dwayne tweeted.
He acknowledged how Brendan supported him early on in his career and how beneficial it was for his overall trajectory.
“Rooting for all your success brother,” Dwayne continued. “[A]nd congrats to my bud [director] Darren Aronofsky.”
Now all we need is to see these two reunited on film or on the red carpet to bring this moment full circle! But in the meantime, you can read Dwayne’s full tweet below:
