Cher has always been vocal about her love for her son, Chaz, who transitioned in 2011, but she has admitted that she struggled with accepting his identity when he first came out. Cher described the process as “difficult,” but she got over her hang ups because “you don’t really lose [your child] — they just are in a different shape.”

During an episode of her podcast, Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best, Busy revealed her 12-year-old child, Birdie, “prefers they/them” and explained that they were fine with Busy talking “about [the fact] that I’m gay and out.”

After Miley Cyrus came out as pansexual in 2015, her father explained that he and his ex-wife have “always been very open-minded” and that “seeing her happy is the greatest thing ever.”

During an EW Radio town hall, Sally defended her son, Sam, from hateful trolls who thought she should disapprove of his identity as a gay man. “[There are parents] so brainwashed to think that this is something out of the Bible or ungodly or against nature,” she ranted, “It’s not against nature if nature has actually done this. Sam was always Sam.”

The Breakfast Club star said she “learned a lot” while watching her son, Beckett’s, journey when he came out as transgender. She explained that he “doesn’t hide anything” and she feels “very comfortable talking to anyone whose kid is just beginning the process of transition” adding that “parents need to educate themselves.”
