Rescuing animals can be a very difficult, emotional endeavor. Animal lovers pursue the difficult work to make a difference in the lives of our furry friends. They work hard to ensure animals have a happy ending, but sometimes have to see them in terrible conditions first. Carmen Weinberg is one of the many big hearts who helps animals in need. Carmen runs Animal Friends Project, a trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) operation that helps local cats around southern Florida. She also cares for and rehomes sick and injured cats. It was through this work that she came across Cotton.
Cotton was a homeless cat found in Royal Palm Beach, Florida in the fall of 2016. A man found Cotton trying to eat food put out for his own cat and was able to pick him up and put him in a carrier. The next day, Carmen went to pick up the cat, who was in bad shape. A vet visit revealed that Cotton was suffering from severe mange, dehydration, and anemia. Carmen nursed Cotton back to health and let the beautiful cat within shine again. His transformation is truly astounding!
