Tricia Hurt and her family spent the day fishing on Marsh-Miller Lake in Wisconsin. While returning to the dock, they spotted a dark object floating in the water.

Tricia’s son Brady thought it was just a rock, until he saw it move. Her husband, Brian, assumed it was a dog who swam too far from its family.

But Tricia Hurt, 52, realized it wasn’t any of those things. As they moved their boat in closer, she could tell it was actually a black bear.

The young bear was swimming across the lake, struggling to breathe after getting its head stuck in a plastic cheese ball container.

The Hurt family was determined to save the scared animal before it drowned, but it was no easy feat.

This poor bear seemed so disoriented and exhausted as the container filled up with more water. It was just a matter of time before it drowned.

Tricia says her family was simply in the right place at the right time, and the rescue video has received hundreds of thousands of views.

After several attempts to save the bear, you’re about to see a very happy ending — all thanks to this family’s brave and compassionate actions.
