When Valerie married her husband 14 years ago, she wanted everything to be perfect. Like most brides, Valerie worried if her guests would have a good time, if the ceremony would go off without a hitch, and if the weather would hold out.
But the thing she was worried about the most was how she would look in her wedding dress.
Valerie says she has struggled with her weight ever since she was a little girl. “I would walk down the block and my knees would hurt.,” she told the Rachael Ray Show. “And it was difficult for me to sit in a movie theater chair.”
By the time she married Michael, Valerie was at her heaviest weight of 354 pounds. She was equally scared as she was excited, because she desperately wanted to be healthy for her husband and their future kids.
In the years since her wedding, Valerie has lost 185 pounds. In the clip below, Rachael Ray gives her the opportunity to get married to Michael a second time. Only this time, she can finally see her in the dream dress she wanted to wear the first time around, but didn’t feel comfortable.
Her reaction upon seeing her reflection in the mirror is truly amazing and so genuine. Good for her!
