As a previous Distractify article reveals, Cody and Zoe started dating in 2017. They got their first taste of real fame when they launched their shared YouTube channel in April 2018.
They broke up for the first time in March 2019, after Cody found out that Zoe had cheated on him. Too wary of losing their reputation, they continued to vlog together.
In August 2019, Cody went missing, and Zoe stepped up immediately. They realized they still had feelings for each other, and gave the relationship another shot.
A few months later, they even uploaded a YouTube video capturing their marriage. Although it was supposed to last for just one day, the few-minute-long clip left fans all the more excited, with many wondering about what the future holds for the young couple.
Did Cody abuse Zoe?
Cody and Zoe would often post content responding to the latest social media trends.
Take, for instance, a video titled “TRYING TO MAKE MY GIRLFRIEND JEALOUS PRANK!!,” which sees the couple attempt the “Eating Cereal Out of a Mouth” challenge.
With Zoe’s head firmly resting on the kitchen counter, Cody attempts to pour the milk into her mouth, only to miss it and cover her neck by accident.
Instead of eating the cereal, he fires away a sequence of derogatory comments, extensively complaining about how revolting the task at hand truly is.
The second half of the video sees Cody pull a vicious prank on Zoe with the utmost success. Determined to make her jealous, he deceives her into thinking that he is exchanging adoring Snapchats with one of his most enthusiastic fans.
But there’s more to the story.
As a new video by Tea Tok reveals, Zoe told mutual friend Tay that Cody tried to hit her on at least one occasion. She also claimed that he committed sexual abuse.
Zoe’s accusations left fans feeling all the more than skeptical, with many taking it to social media to debate whether she was telling the truth.
As some argue, she came up with the accusations to obtain more fans and to get closer to Tay.
To make matters even more complicated, Zoe reportedly used her second Instagram account, zlp.fandom0.2, to admit that she was lying.
“what Tay has posted and said is true. i’m so sorry for lying to you guys. but i learn from my mistakes and i realized what i have done. and i’m hoping me telling the truth stop you guys from being mad at me,” she wrote.
Fans weren’t pleased with the unexpected turn of events, with many taking it to Twitter to express how disappointed in Zoe.
“why did i EVER like zoe laverne her true colours have finally came out and she has literally threatened her fans, made them cry, talked s–t abt them,said she would sue them,yelled at them,and lied about them, AND USED ABUSE TO MAKE SOMEONE STAY IN HER FANDOM?! SHES SO AWFUL OMG,” wrote a person.
Who’s right and who’s wrong? Let’s just hope that they will clarify the reasons behind their breakup in an additional video.
