UEFA Nations League: How it works

• The UEFA Nations League puts all European national teams in four tiers, and those teams are placed into four double round-robin groups.
• After the end of the group stage on November 18, the group winners from each tier will be promoted, and the bottom nation from each group relegated.
• The four group winners in League A will advance to semi-finals to determine the UEFA Nations League Champion.
• Portugal won the inaugural tournament in 2019, after winning its group in League A and defeating Switzerland and Netherlands in the knockout rounds.
• The four group winners of League A will play in the final four in the fall of 2021.
