The NBA will resume its basketball season this July, according to a series of Tweets from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. However, no word as to how the NBA will protect its players, officials and other members of its organization from the coronavirus pandemic that put playing on pause four months ago.
Moving the season to a designated area in Orlando, Forida, the NBA is inviting 22 teams to play a minimum of 8 regular-season games to finish before the playoffs. The teams consist of 13 from the Western Conference and 9 from the Eastern Conference, according to Wojnarowski.
So the NBA’s inviting 22 teams to Orlando: 13 Western Conference, 9 Eastern Conference. Eight-regular season games per team. Play-in for the 8th seeds. July 31-October 12. Vote tomorrow to ratify.

In mid-March, the NBA paused its season over fears of the spread of the coronavirus. News of the season’s short cancelation became one of the signals to American citizens that the threat of the pandemic had become a domestic issue, leading to nationwide efforts to quarantine.
As months went on, and states began to loosen restrictions on safer-at-home orders, some wondered whether the NBA might perform the opposite and signal to Americans that the worst is over. Most epidemiologists hypothesize that a second-wave of infections will hit this summer.
Many fans don’t seem to mind, though. Excitement flooded with Twitter as sports fans anticipated getting back to normal and enjoying basketball.

While some fans celebrated, others worried about the presence of coronavirus. Many expressed concern for players and the threat of the virus. The NBA has yet to release a plan for keeping the virus out of Orlando.
