This Unique 'T-Shirt Shirt' Has People Very, Very Confused

Getting new fashion trends started must be a really difficult job.

Think about it: We’re the only animals in the world that wear clothes. And we’ve been doing it for thousands of years. Over time, different styles and fashion cues have changed. But our base style of pants and a top has been dated back to Korea in the 15th century.

So for hundreds of years, we’ve been working off different variations of pants and shirt. That doesn’t mean all pants and shirts are created equal, however, and in our endless quest to use fashion as a means of standing out, humanity’s created absolutely stupid looking garbage such as this:

Dumb-looking stuff that’s doomed to be on a Value City clearance rack faster than you can say, “ew” is an inevitable part of the fashion game, but that doesn’t mean seeing said stupid designs ever gets boring.

And that’s because some designers seemingly go out of their way to create the most impractical and surprising clothing for a premium price. Like this $1,290 Balenciaga T-Shirt Shirt.

No, you’re not hallucinating this. You’re actually looking at what appears to be a basic, $30 Macy’s Van Heusen dress shirt sewn to a $10 Classic Fit T-shirt.

Now you might be saying to yourself, “Well maybe it just looks absolutely stupid as heck from the front? Perhaps the back does something to warrant such a-ahh nope, regular ill-fitting t-shirt.”

It’s just as asinine from the side profile, as well.

The product description doesn’t do the “piece” much justice either.

T-SHIRT SHIRT

$ 1,290Striped short sleeves and long sleeves shirts with two wearing options

That’s right, Balenciaga is touting “two wearing options” as a feature of this unforgettably hideous piece. Interestingly enough, there are no models rocking the dress-shirt part of the shirt combo. Because that would look STUPID if you had a professional model rocking a button-down with a discount champion tee as a cape, wouldn’t it?

Reading the product “details” somehow makes this thing even more fascinating:

 • Lightweight breathable poplin

• Two wearing options: wear the short sleeves shirt with front drape effect or the long sleeves shirt with back drape effect

• Mix of stripes print

• Buttoned collar

• Back round pleat

• Tone-on-tone nacre buttons fastening •

 Made in Italy

• Handwash or dry cleaning

• Model is 189 cm / 74,4 inches and is wearing a FR size 38 Composition:

100% Cotton

And in case you’re wondering, yes, it looks equally ridiculous on other models, too.

Including this dude who’s rocking a Lloyd from Dumb & Dumber haircut.

Once word broke out that Balenciaga has pretty must lost its darn mind, Twitter had a field day with the T-shirt Shirt.

Some pointed out how hard it must’ve been for the model to seriously wear that thing.

A quick search revealed that those weren’t the only questionable designs from the designer.

There’s this comically large bubble coat that’s the enemy of restaurant coat hangers everywhere.

And exorbitant pricing is apparently par the course for these unflattering looks.

Balenciaga isn’t the only designer to try the whole “double-shirt” thing, Vehements did its own variation a little while back too.

Although in Vehements defense it does look like they put a bit more thought into their shirt design instead of just stapling one shirt to the other.

It’s tweets like this that don’t make me feel so bad I buy my clothes at Costco.
