Allison Life was in elementary school when she began pursuing her love of philanthropy. From basketball fundraisers to SHAPE America, Allison was always looking for ways to help others less fortunate.
Each and every holiday season, Allison’s grandparents donated to a different charity. That’s how she learned about the mission of St. Jude’s.
Allison, now 13, recently approached her principal at East Grand Middle School with a big idea. She wanted to shave her head and donate any proceeds to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The compassionate seventh grader thought it’d be a fun excuse to try out some different hairstyles while helping people at the same time.
She never expected the chain of kindness that would result.
In this clip, Allison and her best friend Sierra get their heads shaved in front of the entire student body.
But then word spread — and money started flooding into the school. Friends, teachers, local businesses, and community members kept hearing about Allison, her bald head, and all the good it was doing. And they wanted in!
