Lynn Ulatowski, a nursing student professor and former marathon runner, was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia in 2014. Her condition worsened in 2020.
And so, when Lynn found herself in desperate need of a heart transplant, her role became reversed. Now, she was the patient.
Lynn was put on life support and prayed for an organ donor before it was too late.
Thankfully, Lynn was matched with a donor and underwent a heart transplant at University Hospitals in Ohio — and the nurses who cared for her around-the-clock? A handful of them were her own former students.
The nurses said they were able to take what they learned from Lynn and used those lessons to help save her life.
For Lynn, it was a true full circle moment.
“It was nice to see that the teaching came to fruition when I saw those girls there and how confident and caring and compassionate they were,” she told FOX8.
