Big news for fans of The CW’s Supergirl! While Kara and Mon-El’s relationship remains complicated on-screen, such isn’t the case off-screen. In fact, things are going wonderfully for Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood. It’s been nearly two years since the couple confirmed that they were an item off-screen as well. Now, the couple has taken to Instagram to announce their engagement.
Melissa was previously married to her Glee co-star Blake Jenner. They married in March 2015. Melissa filed for divorce in late 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The news came as a shock to fans, especially because Blake had appeared on Supergirl in a two-episode guest arc earlier in the year.
Rumors surrounding Melissa and Chris’s relationship first appeared in 2017 when paparazzi shots showed the two kissing on a beach in Cancun, Mexico. Chris was also on the heels of a breakup with Containment co-star Hanna Mangan-Lawrence. Melissa and Chris didn’t make a public appearance as a couple until 2018’s Tony Awards Red Carpet.
