Deserea is a single mom from Denver who’s working hard to raise her three-year-old daughter.
After coming out of a domestic violence situation and moving into their new apartment, Deserea was ready for a happier and safer home environment.
Just a couple weeks after moving in, Deserea went out to run some errands. She received an alert from her Nest video camera.
Deserea was so confused to see a man entering her home through the kitchen window. At first, she thought it could be the maintenance man doing some last minute repairs.
But then she saw him looking through everything she owned, and quickly called 911.
For the next 20 minutes, the man proceeded to steal from Deserea — everything from her electronics to her cosmetics. He even stole her daughter’s piggy bank.
Perhaps the most disturbing part of the footage, however, was when he started opening her lingerie drawers.
“I can’t even begin to describe the fear I have,” Deserea told WRIC. “I haven’t slept. I barely ate. I’m constantly checking doors, windows. I feel so paranoid.”
