On New Year’s Day, Norma Rodgers and her travel companion were just about to take off on United flight from Las Vegas to New Jersey.
Norma, an oncology nurse, sat in the window seat. Her partner was in the aisle seat. A woman they didn’t know was seated in the middle seat between them.
But before the plane began taxing to the runway, the woman in the middle seat started complaining aloud. She unleashed a barrage of insults about Norma and her male companion.
“I can’t sit here because they’re both so big,” she said loudly while using her phone. “Left and right. I can’t even sit here.”
Her comments continued: “I can’t breathe. I’m so squished.”
“I’m stuck, but at least they’ll keep me warm.”
Norma recorded the meltdown on her phone. During the verbal assault, she asked a flight attendant to try and find the woman a different seat, saying she refused to take any more abuse.
“I eat salad,” the woman rudely remarked as she got up.
The other passengers were appalled by the behavior and defended Norma and her partner and the video went viral with over two million views.
