Willow Mengon, a 5-year-old girl from Hubbard, Texas, is lucky enough to have three parents who love her. There’s her mom, Sarah. There’s her biological dad, David, who is Sarah’s ex-husband. And then there’s Dylan, who is Sarah’s current fiancé and Willow’s soon-to-be stepdad.
David now lives in New Mexico, but he recently traveled to Texas to take Willow to her Daddy Daughter dance. And it’s how this blended family is choosing to raise Willow that’s making viral headlines.
“He [David] stays at our home when he visits, because family is always welcome,” Dylan wrote on Facebook. “He is not an outsider, he is and will always be apart of my life for the simple fact that we share the same daughter! Of course not a single moment would be like this without Sarah (mommy) and her kind and generous heart! Willow Grace you are loved by so many people in this world and your Daddies love you!”
Just before David and Willow left for the dance, they were posing for some adorable pictures when Dylan decided to jump into the frame.
Before Willow knew it, her two dads were making her feel like the most special girl in the entire world. Sarah, who owns of Willie + Rose Photography, knew the imagery would make for some amazing impromptu pre-dance photos. After sharing them on Facebook, the pictures went viral. The blended family has since received thousands of messages of support from those they’ve inspired.
“We have molded ourselves into one unique family, of only for the sake of our children to know the power of love,” Dylan says. “Not only did I gain a daughter, I gained a brother and a best friend.”
