There are a million posts about graduation right now, with young people celebrating their big accomplishment with friends and family. Twitter is truly at its most inspirational. However, not everyone has everybody around that they’d like to be there for their big day. Recent high school graduate and Twitter user @nanatat07 shared a story about her yearly celebration with her mom that has gone viral for being so heartbreaking and beautiful.

She shared pictures she took with her mother over the last four years of her education, and wrote this caption:

“Yesterday was my last day of high school. For 4 years I’ve taken pictures with my mom on my first and last days of school. She wasn’t able to make it for the last one, but her strength motivated me to stay strong during this time. All of my hard work is for her!”

You can see her and her mom through the years, getting ice cream and shakes in honor of the big days in their shared lives, but in the final one, @nanatat07 is seated at her mother’s head stone.

In one photo it appears that her mother has lost her hair:

And begun to grow it back by the beginning of her daughter’s senior year:

It’s incredible that @nanatat07 was able to finish her school year, even with such an enormous loss taking place. It’s a testament to her mom’s influence and care that she reached the high school finish line.

People were deeply moved by her story, and absolutely certain that her mom would be incredibly proud of everything she’s done:

A lot of people noticed that @nanatat07 had brought a Starbucks cup to her mom’s grave, as though to share a special treat with her one last time. Everyone was crying.

A number of people shared their own stories of losing parents at a young age, often while in school. It’s a group no one wants to belong to, but here they are supporting each other on Twitter:

Clearly, @nanatat07 didn’t expect her tweet to go viral, but she has responded by saying how deeply moved she is by everyone’s response and support.

Love lives forever.
