Amy Alamillo Siesel, 34, was born with a limb abnormality and damage to her spinal cord. She spent the majority of her life searching for more information about limb differences and for other people who shared similar circumstances. She found resources incredibly scarce and admits she often felt alone as a little girl.

Then one day, Amy stumbled upon a Facebook group called the Lucky Fin Project, an online community where people with limb differences can share their stories and provide support.

She was over-the-moon; this is exactly what she’d been looking for. She jumped at the chance to attend a Lucky Fin meet-and-greet and finally meet other individuals with limb differences just like her.

During the event, Amy noticed an adorable little boy with white-blonde hair and a limb difference just like her. She felt an instant connection to the child.

One-year-old Joseph Tidd was born with symbrachydactyly, a congenital abnormality that stunted the development of his left arm and hand when he was still inside his mother’s womb.

Joseph’s mom, Colleen, brought him to the event hoping to show him that he wasn’t alone — but she never expected him to have such a strong reaction to Amy.

Amy knelt down and attempted to give Joseph a friendly fist-bump. He stopped for a second, a bit reluctant. He looked back at Colleen, so as to confirm it: Amy was missing a limb just like him.

Their heart-melting embrace, captured by a beaming Colleen in the clip below, brought Amy to tears.
