Fans of The Crown were elated to watch Olivia Colman take home the Best Actress in a Television Series at the Golden Globes. Olivia’s performance as Queen Elizabeth is a joy to watch. Before taking home her big win for the night, Olivia spoke with Entertainment Tonight about a rumor regarding her time visiting Buckingham Palace.
Olivia first joined Lauren Zima in a toast. The two toasted to Tender, a UK charity which Olivia is a patron of. Moët donated $1,000 to the charity because of the red carpet toast. Olivia discussed how wonderful the organization is for arming children with an education in the arts to help them get through difficult circumstances at home.
From there, the conversation turned to Olivia’s nomination. While Lauren was sure she’d win, Olivia praised the stellar competition, sure that this was not her year. While on the subject of her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth, Lauren asked her about a rumor regarding Olivia’s visit to Buckingham Palace. The rumor indicated that Olivia’s husband, Ed Sinclair, stole a roll of toilet paper from the Queen’s esteemed home.
Olivia gave the real dish on what actually happened. “It’s gotten out of hand,” she joked. She then explained that she had a cold during their visit, so she asked her husband to grab some pieces of toilet tissue for her. As the story got out, it evolved into a whole roll going missing.
