Thirty-six-year-old Beata Bienias wanted so desperately to have a baby, but she was losing hope. After marrying her husband eight years ago, the couple quickly began trying to conceive. However, Beata was struggling with a string of health issues that made it increasingly difficult. She had polycystic ovaries and fertility specialists instructed her to lose weight if she wanted a better chance.
In 2017, Beata signed up for a weight loss program and eventually shed enough pounds to begin IVF injections and the transfer of embryos.
Nine days after her embryo transfer, Beata learned she was pregnant with what she thought was just one baby, a little girl named Amelia. It was finally happening! She was over-the-moon excited.
Two weeks later, she and her husband went to the doctor for their first prenatal scan.
During the appointment, the ultrasound tech took a closer look at the scan, turned to Beata’s husband and asked if he wanted to sit down; a bombshell was about to be dropped on the expecting couple.
As it turned out, Beata was already pregnant when she first learned Amelia was conceived via IVF.
Already pregnant… with twins.
Yep! And now fertility experts are calling Beata’s rare pregnancy “almost impossible.”
