On January 7, 2020, Jeremy Ferch took his usual route home from work in Richfield, Wisconsin. But this drive home would be like nothing he’d experienced before.
Suddenly, at around 9:15 p.m., Jeremy saw a bright flash of white light in the northwest sky.
The amazing light quickly changed colors, from blue to green, and was spinning downwards towards the ground at a rapid speed.
Jeremy knew that whatever this light was, it was far too big and bright to be a plane or any sort of aircraft.
He says the flash appeared to be a mere 10 to 15 miles away, “like you could reach out and touch it.”
In reality, Jeremy had just witnessed an enormous meteor that completely lit up the night sky — and he captured the incredible sight on his car’s dash cam.
“I just watched and at the end of that I was like, ‘Wow that was huge,’” he told WITI Milwaukee. “I’ve never seen an asteroid, meteorite that large.”
