In 2018, a 57-year-old man named Alexander Goldinsky was at the cafeteria inside his workplace when he slipped and fell on some ice cubes. He claimed to have suffered some injuries from the fall and filed an insurance claim for the ambulance, which took him to the hospital, and the medical treatment he received.

But not all was what it seemed. What Goldinsky failed to realize was that his “fall” was captured on the business’s security cameras — and they told a completely different story.

With the investigation underway, authorities scrolled through the cafeteria’s surveillance footage and saw a man — allegedly Goldinsky — chucking a few ice cubes onto the floor near the soda machines.

Goldinsky then carefully and casually stepped on the ice and laid on the floor, sprawled out on his back, and appeared to wait there until someone found him. It looked like it was all just a ploy for him to collect the insurance money and get away with it scot-free.

When reporters asked him about the incident, he denied any wrongdoing. “I didn’t do it, it was a mistake,” he said.

Goldinsky was arrested and charged with one count of insurance fraud in the third degree and one count of theft by deception in the third degree.
