It’s no secret that President Donald Trump wants to reopen America, much of which has been social distancing for two months, though some public health experts have warned that removing quarantine measures at this time could be dangerously premature. Yesterday, the President remarked it’s “possible” more Americans will die if stay-at-home orders are lifted, but also said, “we have to get our country open.”
With that grim sentiment hanging in the air, the President toured an N95 mask manufacturing plant in Phoenix, Arizona yesterday, where someone blared Guns ‘N Roses rendition of Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die” over the loudspeaker.
‘Live and Let Die’ by Guns N’ Roses blares after @realDonaldTrump says the country must reopen even though some will be “affected badly.” Subtle. pic.twitter.com/gLugKzygx1

The song choice was so on the nose for Trump’s attitude about the virus that basically everyone viewing the clip assumed the song choice was intentional. The only question is, was a rogue factory deejay trolling Trump, or was Trump trolling us?
Whoever had the balls to play Live and Let Die while Trump toured the mask factory can deejay any party I ever have for the rest of my life. https://t.co/PQv6gT5p5F

I can think of no better metaphor for this presidency than Donald Trump not wearing a face mask to a face mask factory while the song “Live and Let Die” blares in the background. pic.twitter.com/mJzU1HW7HA

Playing Live and Let Die, while trump demonstrates safety ignorance by not wearing a mask, is very on brand for the GOP. https://t.co/XIYLxPBBhk

“Live and Let Die.” That’s the song that Trump had pumped into the mask factory during his visit. Seriously. Like, seriously.pic.twitter.com/zidsZhfxmu

“Live and Let Die” has trended on Twitter all morning as people crack off jokes and wring their hands about the state of America, but it’ll likely be some time until we understand whose idea it was to soundtrack Trump’s visit with the James Bond song.
