Linda Hamilton is being praised for her return as Sarah Connor in Terminator: Dark Fate. The actress has also been doing some celebrating of her own, and is particularly pleased with her female co-stars in the film.
She recently told ET, “The ladies are fantastic. And I don’t think I had anything to add to their performances, they stood alone, and they stood strong. They were so prepared. I watched Mackenzie [Davis] work, we went to gun camp together in Texas, and I was actually like, ‘Oh [expletive], I am just never going to be able to, not even compete with that, but to even match that.”
There was one part of the film that Linda struggled with in a major way: when she had to deliver Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s famous line: “I’ll be back.”
“You can’t say it without sounding like him,” Hamilton said. It’s at the end of a very intense action scene and it’s weapons and it’s triple digit heat, and you’re just giving it everything and then every time I would finish with that line, I would look at [director] Tim [Miller] and he would go, ‘Sounds like Arnold. Let’s do it again.”
For this part, Arnold thinks she nailed it. “I wasn’t there when she did it, but I saw it in the movie, and I was amazed that someone could say it in a different way than the way I said it.”
Terminator: Dark Fate, is a direct sequel to 1991’s Terminator: Judgment Day, and is also the first name director James Cameron has returned to the series. Linda initially wasn’t sure she wanted to come back, commenting that “It took a little work on their part to bring me back. Because I just was not really sure that I had anything more to say. … Because it was just so far-fetched to come back all these years later.”
Terminator: Dark Fate opens in theaters in the United States on November 1.
