Kim was overjoyed when she took to Twitter to announce her son’s birth. She first tweeted, “He’s here and he’s perfect!” She followed that up later by adding, “He’s also Chicago’s twin lol I’m sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her.”
Fans spent the next week speculating about what Kim and Kanye would name their newborn son, until Kim broke the news on social media. The reality star tweeted a distant photo of the baby boy in his crib. It was part of a screenshot of text message between herself and Kanye. In the post, she announced they’d named the baby Psalm West.
Fans had mixed feelings about the name. Some expected her to go with something more traditional, like when she previously mentioned she was considering the name Robert. Others expected something just as unusual as her other children’s names, so they thought it was a sweet pick.
Kim’s mom opened up about the choice when attending the Fresh Air Fund’s Annual Spring Benefit honoring Tommy Hilfiger. The Kardashian matriarch told Entertainment Tonight, “The inspiration was the Book of Psalms in the Bible. I think it’s just a wonderful way to celebrate how they feel. And he’s such a blessing, so it’s perfect.”
