Someone was more than a little confused about the surrogacy process, and Khloé Kardashian was not about to let them stew in their ignorance.
Recently, Khloé’s older sister Kim posted a throwback photo of herself on Instagram. In the photo, a young Kim poses in a bathing suit. Fans and Kardashian family members alike couldn’t help but notice how similar “Baby K” looks to both of her daughters, 5-year-old North and baby Chicago. But one commenter dropped in to claim that it wouldn’t be possible for Chicago to look like Kim, given that they’re not biologically related.
Of course, this stranger was misinformed. Kim was extremely candid about the surrogacy process, and it was even documented on the family’s reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. While Kim and Kanye did use a surrogate to carry their baby, the child is biologically both of theirs. To be more specific, the surrogate was actually their gestational carrier.
Khloé jumped in to the comments section to reply to the stranger and set them straight.
“If you don’t really know about someone’s situation, then maybe you should not comment. Try informing yourself first before you make such silly statements, doll,” the Good American designer wrote, according to Buzzfeed. “Your passive wannabe petty comment is simply uneducated. Chicago is completely Kimberly’s biological child. Praise the lord she was able to have a surrogate and that we are blessed with sweet gorgeous Chi Chi.”
The commenter actually came back at Khloé, doubling down on her incorrect perception of the situation and writing, “I never said the baby wasn’t beautiful. SHE DEFINITELY IS, but she did have a surrogate so the baby would either look MORE like Kanye or the surrogate mother. That’s all, love.”
The mom of one replied yet again, further clarifying the situation and shutting down the stranger once and for all.
“I am not saying you said that, love. I am saying you must be more informed before speaking on something that you don’t know anything about apparently,” she wrote back. “Chicago is Kimberly’s DNA. Her and her husband made embryos and then they were blessed enough to have a surrogate carry their child for them since Kimberly is unable to. God bless modern medicine.”
In all likelihood, this person simply didn’t understand how surrogacy works, assuming that all surrogates are the biological mothers of the babies they carry. But it was still awesome of Khloé to jump to her sister’s defense.
