Kelly Clarkson holds a special place in our hearts for a few different reasons. One, she’s paved a way for herself in the music industry since she appeared on the inaugural season of American Idol in 2002. Two, she’s an incredibly hardworking mother and extremely candid about all aspects of her life. And three, girlfriend cannot be stopped! After joining the panel of coaches on NBC’s The Voice the past couple seasons, it seems like the entire country has a case of Kelly Clarkson Fever — something that’s probably not going to go away anytime soon, seeing as the 36-year-old powerhouse singer’s talk show is set to launch later this fall.
Kelly recently appeared on Ellen to talk about her upcoming project with the queen of all current on-air talk show hosts, Ellen Degeneres, and opened up about the one skill she really needed to perfect before feeling comfortable as a host.
“We did the pilot, and I was oddly comfortable,” Kelly told Ellen. “I kinda figured out, if I led with music, then it made me more comfortable. So each show, we lead with music.”
She went on to say that while her speaking skills are top-notch, she definitely has to work on another important aspect of hosting, which she explains in the video below. “I think I’m going to be really good at all the other things ― just not that one,” she said. “But I like a challenge.”
