Teen Mom 2 fans were shocked when news broke that Jenelle Evans’ husband had shot and killed their family dog. David Eason allegedly lashed out at Nugget, a French bulldog, after he bit their 2-year-old daughter, Ensley. It kicked off an unfortunate chain of events, including Jenelle’s firing from MTV. It even caused her to temporarily lose custody of her children. We’re now learning that police believe the entire story was made up for publicity.
A press release from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office in Whiteville, North Carolina, stated that the investigation into Jenelle and David has been closed. A search of the couple’s property found no blood evidence or physical evidence of an animal’s death. According to officials, Jenelle was questioned the day after the alleged incident. Not only did inconsistencies appear in her account of events, but she no longer wanted the matter to be investigated.
“Jenelle advised that she was inside with her children at the time of the alleged event. She advised that she never heard or saw anything to indicate that David shot her dog,” the statement explains, according to ET. “Jenelle advised that ‘she don’t know where the dog is.’ She also advised that ‘I don’t know if she was shot or killed or not.’ Jenelle stated that the reason she filed the animal cruelty report was for the publicity and because she did not know where her dog was.”
Due to the lack of evidence and their inability to substantiate Jenelle’s claims, the investigation will not result in charges against Jenelle or David.
