Lou Ferrigno recently ended up in the hospital after getting a routine pneumonia shot. The 67-year-old Incredible Hulk star and former bodybuilder went to Rite Aid to get his vaccine, but hours later his entire arm was swollen.

Lou believes the syringe may have been contaminated, and he took to Instagram to encourage people to watch as they get vaccines. Lou wrote:

“Went in for a pneumonia shot and landed up here with fluid in my bicep 💪🏽

“I’ll be ok but it’s important that you keep an eye on who’s giving the shot and make sure they not only swab the spot correctly but that you watch the needle come out of the package.”

When Lou’s arm started swelling up, he knew it was something serious. He went to the ER, where doctors gave him at CAT scan. He was later admitted and kept overnight so he could get antibiotics through an IV.

Lou says it took four days for the swelling in his arm to go down.

In a statement, Rite Aid told Inside Edition that it takes Lou’s situation very seriously. The company said:

“We have conducted a thorough review of this matter and are confident that all protocols were appropriately followed. Patient and customer safety is a top priority at Rite Aid. We take all customer matters, especially those related to safety, very seriously. Our Rite Aid pharmacists are nationally certified to provide immunizations and we successfully vaccinate millions of patients every year. All patients are provided with information about immunizations, including possible side effects.”
