I Walk to Burger King is a parody of the Green Day song “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” that first appeared in a May 2020 video by YouTuber JC Foster Takes It to the Moon.” The song and video, which features a man walking toward a Burger King fast food restaurant before turning around and walking in the opposite direction, inspired remixes and parodies on YouTube.

Origin

On May 2nd, 2020, YouTuber JC Fosters Takes It To The Moon published the video “I walk to Burger King then I walk back home from Burger King.” The post received more than 444,000 views and 39,000 upvotes (shown below).

Spread

That day, Redditor bockclockula shared the video in the /r/youtubehaiku subreddit. The post received more than 2,300 points (97% upvoted) in less than six months.

A month and a half later, on June 13th, JC Foster Takes It To The Moon posted an “EXTENDED CUT” of the song. The post received more than 27,000 views in less than three months (shown below, left). Days later, YouTuber douggg shared a longer version of the EXTENDED CUT. The post received more than 165,000 views in less than three months (shown below, right).

The videos inspired remixes and parodies of the song. For example, on August 19th, YouTuber Inesense shared “Rick Astley Walks to Burger King.” The post received more than 525,000 views in less than one month (shown below).
