In the early ’80s when cable TV was still new, there were fewer shows for kids. In many cases, the youths had to settle for measly programming blocks that only lasted a few hours a day. Now, there are countless of channels aimed at youngsters, including Universal Kids.

Because it’s part of the NBCUniversal umbrella, the channel specializes in many of the properties the media empire is known for. All Hail King Julien, DreamWorks Dragons, and The Adventures of Puss in Boots brings the magic of computer-animated film to the small screen. There’s also a slew of great live-action programming including America Ninja Warrior Junior and Top Chef Junior, proving kids can compete as hard as their elders.

It’s not al pure fun and games, there’s still an entire programing block dedicated to curious young minds with shows like The Chica Show, Super Wings, and Noddy, Toyland Detective.
