Graduating is one of those important milestones in your life that you’ll never forget. One Florida teen wanted to experience hisĀ graduation ceremony with his fellow classmates, but he knew he’d need some help to make it happen. Evan Rasmussen, a teenager living with spina bifida, was able to attend his graduation thanks to help from his hospital.

Evan was in the pediatric intensive care unit at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida. Graduating meant a lot to Evan and his family, so the hospital put together a special transport team to make it happen. Evan’s mom, Chandra Evans Campbell, discussed what the moment meant for them: “The whole family is extremely excited. It’s something that we weren’t sure … they told us from day one they weren’t sure if he would ever do. So to reach this accomplishment is pretty exciting.”

As excited as the family was to see Evan graduate, the staff at the Arnold Palmer Hospital were just as thrilled. “It’s really an honor and a privilege we get to do this for him, to help him walk this stage to help him complete school to be able to graduate and move on with the rest of his life,” noted paramedic Brian Clough.

Evan was so happy to make it to his graduation ceremony. Thanks to the hospital transport team, this moment was even more special for Evan and his family.
