Today fans were overjoyed to learn that host Hoda Kotb recently got engaged. Hoda and longtime boyfriend Joel Schiffman got engaged during a weekend vacation to Mexico. She shared the news with her Today family the following Monday, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Hoda and Joel were first introduced by mutual friends at a Wall Street event in 2013. They began quietly seeing each other. Today viewers might remember that Hoda’s partner was a big secret, only ever referred to as “Boots” in her conversations with then co-host, Kathie Lee Gifford. This continued until Hoda and Joel went public with their relationship in 2015. The following year, they moved in together.
Today, Hoda and Joel have two beautiful daughters, 2½-year-old Haley Joy and 8-month-old Hope Catherine. Hoda had publicly declared that she intended to be with Joel for the rest of her life regardless of marriage. She had no idea what Joel had in store, and how it would feel to be in that giddy, goofy kind of love in her 50s, as she told People.
