Drew Olson spent five months serving as Army National Guard Captain in Afghanistan. His wife, Tina, and their two young children missed him terribly while he was overseas.

Back in the states, Drew also teaches social studies and coaches basketball and football at Northridge High School in Layton, Utah. The deployment was also difficult for his beloved students.

Drew would his students photos from Afghanistan. They’d send him birthday cards and care packages. The distance only seemed to strengthen the connection between teacher and student.

“As a coach you experience many ups and downs with all of your athletes, you celebrate victories together, you share in losses together, fight through adversity together,” Drew told InsideEdition.com.

So when Drew learned he was going to return home from Afghanistan earlier than he expected, he wanted to surprise the students with his unexpected homecoming.

It’s easy to see why this new clip is viral. Just wait until you see the students’ collective burst of joy and excitement the moment they see Drew’s face appear in the doorway.

What a great moment.
