Hero Bus Driver Finds Children, Ages 2 and 6, Wandering Alone In 18-Degree Weather Without Coats

Nicole Chamberlain says she was simply in the right place and right time.

The Waukesha Metro Transit employee was driving along her morning route in Waukesha, Wisconsin — just one of the many towns being impacted by the brutal cold sweeping across the Midwest.

In footage captured by the bus’ surveillance video, Nicole spots two little kids who could not have been more underdressed for the freezing cold temperatures.

The children were all alone outside as the wind chills dropped to just 3 degrees above zero. The attentive bus driver saw them heading toward a busy intersection.

Nicole knew there was no school bus stop down nearby, and her jaw dropped when she saw their clothing.

The six-year-old boy was wearing nothing but a T-shirt and pants. His two-year-old sister was wearing nothing but a T-shirt and a diaper. Neither one was wearing a coat.

The siblings had reportedly wandered away from home — and Nicole was ready to spring into action to save them.
