As George Floyd’s murder continues to impact so many people around the world, those closest to him are remembering him as a “gentle giant” who deserved so much better.

No one understands that more than his heartbroken and grieving fiancée, Courtney Ross.

Courtney, 46, hails from Minneapolis and says she dated George for three years before his shocking murder.

According to a Facebook profile that appears to belong to Courtney, she has one daughter and works at a coffee shop.

After the horrific video showing Officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on George’s neck as he struggled to breath, outraged citizens started taking to the streets in protest of racism and police brutality.

Courtney says the best way to honor George’s memory is to do so peacefully. “He loved the city. He came here [from Houston] and stayed here for the people and the opportunities,” she told the Star Tribune.

“Floyd would not want people to get hurt… He lived his life protecting people. That is the truth.”

In the clip below, Courtney speaks out after hearing former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was arrested and charged with murder… the news she’d been anxiously waiting to hear for over a week.
