According to the ASPCA, 3.3 million dogs and 3.2 million cats enter shelters in the United States each year. Of those animals, 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats are euthanized. The numbers of household pets being sheltered and euthanized are thankfully declining. Still, there’s still a lot of work to be done. That’s why it’s so important to spread the word when an animal is in need of a home. Barsik the 41-pound cat is one of those animals.
Barsik is a 5-year-old cat weighing a whopping 41 pounds. His full figure has helped him get a lot of attention on social media, but he’s turning to a healthier lifestyle as he looks for a family to call his own. Barsik’s foster mom has set up an Instagram so that prospective families can get a closer look at the sweet boy.
