Last year, a flight attendant was cleaning an aircraft in preparation for the next flight when a very unexpected discovery was made: a message scribbled on one of the barf bags.
The employee eventually shared a photo of the finding on Reddit, where it’s been going viral ever since.
The author of the message identified herself as Andrea, a 21-year-old student traveling from Miami to Washington D.C.. In her note, Andrea explained she was feeling bored and anxious with nothing to do on the plane. Since her wifi wasn’t working, she thought that putting her thoughts and feelings down on paper would help her feel better.
The only paper she could find? The air sickness bag stuffed inside the seat pocket.
Her letter goes onto explain the reason for her impromptu trip cross-country trip:
“I bought the ticket last night at 4 a.m. because I have a huge crush on my best friend,” she confessed. “He is flying from Boston to New Orleans and has a layover in DC. I actually live in DC and was gonna go up soon anyway so I thought why not, I’ll surprise him at the airport during his layover.”
Andrea ended the love letter by explaining why this was likely to be her last chance to tell her crush how she truly felt.
“Wherever you are, I hope it went well for you,” the flight attendant wrote.
