A 2-year-old boy named Abdullah is fighting for his life at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in California.

Abdullah has a genetic brain condition, and it’s only getting worse. Doctors are trying to keep him on life support, but they’re not sure how long that can last.

Both Abdullah and his father, Ali Hassan, are United States citizens and live in the States. Abdullah’s mother, however, is a Yemeni national.

She is currently in Egypt and is prohibited from entering the States under President Donald Trump’s travel ban.

Now the family’s story is going viral — and many civil rights and religious leaders are strongly urging the US State Department to grant Abdullah’s mom an expedited visa so she can visit her dying son.

Abdullah’s father began sobbing at a recent press conference. “My wife is calling me every day wanting to kiss and hold our son for one last time. Time is running out; please help us get my family together again.”

Though time is running out, the family’s plea is garnering a ton of support across the country.
