Many people know and love that television show “The Wonder Years.” The show ran for six seasons from 1988 to 1993, and starred Fred Savage as Kevin Arnold, the youngest son of Jack and Norma Arnold. The Arnolds are portrayed as a middle-class white American family navigating the world against the backdrop of the oft-turbulent 1960s and 1970s.

The network ABC has announced they are currently developing a new version of the show. Fred Savage will be onboard as the show’s director and executive producer, and “Empire” co-creator Lee Daniels is also working as a producer. The new version of “The Wonder Years” will follow a middle-class Black family as they live through the same time period in Montgomery, Alabama.

The show is currently in the pre-production announcement phase, so there’s no guarantee it will make it to television. However, the buzz around the show is already pretty exciting, and people are definitely curious about what the show will — and will not — depict.
